
SUNY Cortland scored two goals just 13 seconds apart midway through the second period and the Red Dragons went on to a 3-1 win against Hamilton College in a non-conference game at Cortland's Alumni Arena on Nov. 30.
Hamilton (2-2-0 overall) routed the Red Dragons 6-2 at home on Nov. 23. The Continentals host Saint Michael's College for a NESCAC/ECAC East crossover contest on Friday, Dec. 3.
After a scoreless first period, Cortland grabbed a 1-0 lead at 6:25 of the second, and made it a two-goal advantage at 6:38. Hamilton didn't take long to cut into its deficit. Anthony Scarpino '12 scored his first goal this season on an assist from Anthony Ruberto '13 at 7:02. Ruberto won a faceoff back to Scarpino, whose wrist shot from the left eluded the goalie.
The Red Dragons (3-7-1) added an insurance goal with 2:27 left in the third period. The Continentals pulled the goalie for an extra skater with 1:13 remaining, but a Hamilton icing 27 seconds later sent him back between the pipes. The Continentals pulled their goalie again with 32 seconds remaining but couldn't get a quality scoring chance.
Cam Gibbar '13 was solid in his first appearance in goal at Hamilton. Gibbar made 29 saves in 58-plus minutes. The Continentals held a 38-32 advantage in shots, but were 0-for-5 on the power play. Cortland was scoreless on its two power-play chances.
