The Hamilton College men’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to visiting Wesleyan in a NESCAC game Saturday at Love Field. The Continentals (3-5-0, 1-4 NESCAC) played the Cardinals to a halftime tie but surrendered a pair of second-half goals.

Hamilton's Peter Calleri ’18 made his first collegiate start in goal and made a pair of saves.

Both Wesleyan goals were scored by Chris Kafina off assists from Max Jones. In the 51st minute Jones and Kafina ran a give-and-go that resulted in an opportunity for Kafina alone in front of the net. With just 2:59 left, Jones sent a cross from near the end line to the far post where Kafina headed it into the net for his sixth goal of the season.

Hamilton’s best chance came in the 79th minute when a long pass from Alec Talsania ’17 was sent to a streaking Killian Clancy ’18, who was unable to keep it from the end line.

Jack Katkavich made a pair of saves for Wesleyan (5-2-1, 2-1-1), who outshot the hosts 11-10 (including a 7-3 advantage after intermission).

The Continentals wrap up their weekend home stand Sunday with a 1:30 p.m. NESCAC game against Tufts. The defending NCAA champion Jumbos are ranked 12th in the latest national coaches poll.
