
Hamilton College picked up one win in three matches against NESCAC opponents held at Yale University, Amherst College and Connecticut College from Jan. 18 to Jan. 20.
The Continentals (3-6 overall), who are ranked 21st by the College Squash Association, opened the weekend with a 5-4 win over No. 19 Colby College at Yale in New Haven, Conn., on Friday night. Hamilton lost 9-0 at No. 23 Amherst on Saturday afternoon and dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 26 Conn. College on Sunday afternoon.
Josh Wolpert '16 and Peter Harrison '15 led the Continentals with two wins apiece. Wolpert recorded his first collegiate victory against Colby at the fourth position as he outlasted his opponent 11-8 in the fifth game. He cruised to a three-game win against Conn. College. At the sixth position, Harrison defeated his Colby opponent in three straight games, and won against Conn. College in four. Harrison leads the team with five wins this season.
Walker Lourie '15, Ted Nehrbas '15, Austin Engros '15 and Mac Pivirotto '15 all tallied one victory. Lourie needed five games at the seventh position against Colby as he topped his opponent 11-5 in the fifth game. Nehrbas won in four games at the eighth position against Colby and Engros triumphed in three straight at the ninth position against the Mules. Pivirotto earned a win in four games at the ninth spot at Conn. College.
Hamilton returns home to the Little Squash Center for matches on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 26 and 27. The opponents are Franklin & Marshall College, Northeastern University and Drexel University.
