Chad Carta '06 improved his record to 8-4 by winning his sixth match in the last seven as visiting Hamilton College defeated the University of Rochester, 7-2, in Rochester, N.Y., on Feb. 1.

The victory at No. 5 position was the 33rd of Carta's career. He was one of five Continentals that won their matches in three straight games. The others were John DeWitt '09, Sander Doucette '09, Andrew Small '08 and Rick Munschauer '09.

DeWitt has six wins this season, including four of the last six at No. 2 position. Doucette is 2-1 at No. 4 position and Munschauer captured his fourth victory at No. 8. Small leads No. 23 Hamilton (6-8 overall) with nine wins this season. He is 9-4 overall and already has 25 career victories.

John Frazier '07 and Rick Mayfield '06 were extended to five games before winning their matches. Mayfield was down two games-to-none before taking the last three (10-9, 9-2, 9-7) at No. 6 position. Frazier had to win the last two games (9-5, 9-2) to prevail at No. 3.

Rochester, which lost 6-3 to Hamilton at the Liberty League Championships on Nov. 20, 2005, is ranked No. 29 by the College Squash Association. The Continentals compete in the Vassar College Team Challenge this weekend in Poughkeepsie. Hamilton plays Penn State at 12:30 p.m. and Wesleyan University at 5 on Saturday, Feb. 4.
