Hamilton College split with Amherst College and St. Lawrence University in a three-team meet held at Hamilton's Bristol Pool on Jan. 23.
 
Hamilton lost 160-130 to nationally ranked No. 16 Amherst. The Continentals routed St. Lawrence 212-76.
 
Taylor Hogenkamp ‘13 finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 46.12 seconds. Hogenkamp was a close third in the 100 free in 48.21 seconds. Chris DeConinck ‘11 earned another victory for the Continentals in the 100 butterfly, recording a time of 53.53 seconds. Steve Chaponis ‘10 took second place in the 100 fly in 54.85 seconds.
 
Jake DeConinck ‘11 earned a victory in the 50 free, clocking a time of 22.02 seconds. In the 50 breaststroke, Ian Nichols ‘13 finished second with a time of 28.12 seconds. Jared Mereness ’10 finished right behind Nichols in third place in 28.62 seconds. Mereness also earned a runner-up finish in the 100 breast, recording a time of 1:02.11. 

In the 50 fly, Chris DeConinck finished second in 24.34 seconds. Jake DeConinck was right behind him in third place in 24.39 seconds. Bowie Sievers ’11 finished second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:00.83. 

The Continentals also took first place in the 200 free relay. The team of Hogenkamp, Jon Fung '12, Chaponis and Jake DeConinck finished in 1:28.44.

In diving, Talpey Matt ’12 won the 1-meter springboard with 230.92 points, and Beau Brians '13 captured the 3-meter board with 194.40 points.
 
The Continentals compete in a dual meet at Union College on Saturday, Jan. 30.
