Hamilton College recorded eight event victories and captured the top three spots in a pair of freestyle races as the visiting Continentals romped to a 159-84 dual meet win at St. Lawrence University on Jan. 24. 

Jake DeConinck '11 won the 50-yard freestyle (21.43 seconds) and the 100 free (49.57) as Hamilton placed first, second and third in both events. Jon Fung '12 took second in the 50 at 22.12 seconds and Andrew Brodsky '11 rounded out the top three as he touched the wall in 22.13 seconds. In the 100 free, Brodsky followed DeConinck at 50.86 seconds and Jared Mereness '10 was third (51.18).

Bowie Sievers '11 picked up two event victories for Hamilton. Sievers finished less than a second away from setting a pool record in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:20.30. He won the 100 butterfly in 54.81 seconds and teammate Steve Chaponis '10 was a split-second behind Sievers at 54.87.

Mereness bested the field in the 100 breaststroke at 1:03.19. Michael Brennan '12 took first in the 500 free at 5:00.07.

The Continentals swept the two relay events. Brodsky, Mereness, Chaponis and Alex Paridon '09 finished the 200 medley relay in 1:42.34. Chris DeConinck '11, Chaponis, Brennan and Jake DeConinck captured the 200 free relay in 1:31.85.

Hamilton returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Bristol Pool against Union College for Senior Day.
