Hamilton College swimmers finished first in seven events, but the visiting Continentals lost a dual meet against Rensselaer at Robison Pool on Feb. 7.

The final score was 123-118. Hamilton competes in the New England Small College Athletic Conference championship at Wesleyan University from Feb. 27 to March 1.

Alex Paridon '09 and Andrew Brodsky '11 captured the top two spots in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 50.25 seconds and 50.37 seconds, respectively. Jake DeConinck '11 took first place in the 50 free with a time of 22.24 seconds.

Michael Brennan '12 finished first in the 500 free (4:59.68) and second in the 200 individual medley (2:04.49). Bowie Sievers '11 claimed first place in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.69 and was second in the 200 backstroke (2:03.52).

Jason Brown '09 topped the field in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:29.03. Chris DeConinck '11 finished first in the 200 butterfly in 2:01.43. Jared Mereness '10 was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.12).

Talpey Matt '12 was runner-up in both diving events. Matt scored 207.65 points in the 1-meter springboard and 236.93 in the 3-meter.

Hamilton won the 400 free relay in 3:17.78 behind Steve Chaponis '10, Chris DeConinck, Brodsky and Jake DeConinck.
