
Jake DeConinck ’11 finished first in three freestyle events for Hamilton College, but the visiting Continentals lost a dual meet to Middlebury College on Jan. 16.
The final score was 156.5-137.5. DeConinck took first in the 200-yard free as he recorded a time of 1 minute, 48.34 seconds. He also took first in the 50 free in 22.08 seconds, and in the 100 free with a time of 48.58 seconds.
Bowie Sievers ’11 earned a victory for the Continentals in the 1,000 free as he clocked in with a time of 10:12.67. Sievers also earned second place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.33. In the 200 individual medley, Sievers was runner-up again in 1:59.35.
Ian Nichols ’13 took first place in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:01.57 clocking. Jared Mereness ‘10 earned a victory for the Continentals in the 200 breast as he finished in 2:16.17.
Chris DeConinck ’11 finished second in both the 200 butterfly in 2:07.02, and in the 100 fly with a time of 53.73 seconds. Taylor Hogenkamp ’13 placed second in the 100 free in 48.74 seconds. Talpey Matt ’12 swept the diving events as he was first in both the 1-meter springboard (229.20 points) and the 3-meter board (203.78).
The Continentals host Amherst College and St. Lawrence University for a meet at Bristol Pool on Saturday, Jan. 23.
