
Hamilton College finished in eighth place out of 11 teams after the third and final day of the 2011 New England Small College Athletic Conference men's swimming and diving championship at Bowdoin College's Greason Pool on Feb. 27.
Taylor Hogenkamp '13 and Jake DeConinck '11 qualified for the championship finals in the 100-yard freestyle. Hogenkamp finished fifth with a time of 46.96 seconds. DeConinck was seventh, and posted his best time of 47.15 seconds in the preliminary heats.
Tom Cyran '12 ended up 12th in the 1,650 free with a time of 16:47.35. Bowie Sievers '11 finished seventh in the consolation finals (15th overall) of the 200 butterfly. Sievers' better time of 1:58.19 was recorded in prelims. Tom Youngblood '13 was seventh in the 200 breaststroke conso finals (15th overall). Youngblood's best time of 2:12.37 came in prelims.
In diving, Beau Brians '13 came in fifth place in the 3-meter springboard. Brians ended up with 361.60 points.
As a team, Hamilton racked up 607.5 points. Williams College won the team title with 1,741.5, and Amherst College was runner-up with 1,614.5.
