
Hamilton College ended up in seventh place out of 11 teams at the New England Small College Athletic Conference championships after the meet's third and final day at Wesleyan University's Wesleyan Natatorium on March 1.
The Continentals finished with 767.5 points, which was just 14 behind Middlebury College in sixth place with 781.5 points. Williams College won the team title with 1,775.5 points.
Hamilton swimmers recorded a pair of top-seven finishes in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Michael Brennan '12 touched the wall in fifth place with a time of 16:25.79. Jason Brown '09 took seventh place with a time of 16:31.74.
Bowie Sievers '11 recorded a provisional NCAA Division III championships cut in the 200 butterfly and captured fifth place in the championship finals with a time of 1:54.22. Jared Mereness '10 accounted for another fifth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke. Mereness touched the wall in 2:09.04 in the championship finals, but posted a slightly faster time of 2:08.86 in the preliminaries.
The NCAA championship field should be announced later this week.
