
Hamilton College competed in the 4th annual Stony Brook University Men's Tennis Invitational at University Courts on Sept. 7 and 8.
The tournament consisted of four singles and two doubles brackets with a championship and consolation draw for each. Eight Hamilton players participated in the event, which included four Division I programs.
Ben Stern '16 reached the finals of the "C" flight consolation draw with two wins in his first collegiate event. Stern defeated an opponent from Army (8-4) and from Stevens Institute of Technology (9-8 [4]) before falling 8-2 in the final against a Quinnipiac University player.
Ian Antonoff '16 picked up the Continentals' lone victory in the championship draw while playing in the "C" flight. Antonoff edged a Stony Brook player 9-8 (7-3 in the tiebreaker) in the first round. He dropped a 7-6, 6-1 decision to a Bowdoin College opponent in the quarterfinals.
Jordan Petit '13 recorded an 8-4 win against a Quinnipiac player in the "A" flight consolation draw, and Kolya Kerz '13 posted an 8-2 victory against a Wagner College opponent in "B" flight consolation action.
Hamilton's next tournament is the St. Lawrence University Fall Classic on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15 and 16.
