Hamilton College's Jordan Petit '13 and Austin Lokre '16 captured the "B" flight doubles championship at the 2012 St. Lawrence University Fall Classic, which was held at Sammis and Newell Tennis Courts on Sept. 15 and 16.

Results

Hamilton's four doubles teams combined to post a record of 9-3 during the event. Petit and Lokre edged teammates Ian Antonoff '16 and Ben Stern '16 in an all-Hamilton "B" doubles final, 9-8 (7-5).

Petit and Lokre breezed to an 8-1 win against an Ithaca College pair in the first round, defeated a duo from the University of Rochester, 8-5, in the quarterfinals and triumphed over a team from Rochester Institute of Technology by the same score in the semifinals.

Antonoff and Stern received a bye into the quarterfinals where they defeated a pair from RIT, 8-4. They cruised to an 8-3 win against a St. Lawrence duo in the semis.

Jon Franzel '13 and Matt Billet '15 reached the finals of the "A" flight doubles bracket. Franzel and Billet squeaked by a St. Lawrence pair in the first round, 9-8 (9-7), edged a Nazareth College duo by the same score in the quarters and eased into the championship match with an 8-3 victory against an Ithaca team in the semis. Franzel and Billet dropped the final against a pair from Rochester, 8-1.

Two Continentals made the semifinals of their singles bracket. Antonoff won two matches in "B" flight and Stephen Rosenman '13 did likewise in "C" flight.

Antonoff was a 6-4, 6-3 winner against a St. Lawrence opponent in the first round. He prevailed by scores of 4-6, 6-4 and 10-2 in the super-tiebreaker against an Ithaca player in the quarters. In the semis, he lost 7-5, 7-5 to the eventual champion from RIT.

Rosenman rallied to win his first round match (4-6, 6-3, 10-8 super-tiebreaker) against an RIT opponent. He had a much easier time in the quarters against a St. Lawrence player, 6-0, 6-2. Rosenman fell 6-1, 7-5 to the eventual flight champion from Rochester in the semis.

Kolya Kerz '13 won his "C" flight singles first round match 6-2, 6-1 against a Nazareth opponent. Kerz extended his quarterfinal opponent from Rochester to a super-tiebreaker, but eventually lost, 10-4.

Hamilton is off until the 2012 ITA Northeast Regional Championship, which begins on Friday, Sept. 28, at Ithaca College.
