
Hamilton College dropped a New England Small College Athletic Conference match to nationally ranked No. 8 Amherst College, 8-1, at Amherst’s indoor tennis courts on April 17.
Amherst (18-6 overall, 5-0 NESCAC) is ranked eighth in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Continentals (6-8, 1-4) are ranked 18th in the Northeast region by the ITA.
Peter Erwin ‘11 earned a close win for Hamilton at sixth flight singles by scores of 6-4, 2-6, and 6-2. It is Erwin's 10th win this season. At second flight singles, Drew Libin ‘12 played a marathon back-and-forth match. Libin lost the first set, 7-6, and rallied to win the second 7-6. He was edged in a third set super tie-breaker, 11-9.
The Continentals travel to play another NESCAC match against Bates College on Sunday, April 18.
