The Hamilton College Continentals split a pair of non-conference matches at Hamilton’s Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Sunday.
The Continentals (7-5 overall) blanked Utica College 9-0 and were edged 5-4 by St. Lawrence University. Hamilton returns to NESCAC competition on Saturday, April 5, at home against Tufts University at 2 p.m.
Ben Swett ’14 and Ian Antonoff ’16 recorded three wins apiece on the day. Swett teamed with Devin White ’17 for an 8-0 win at first flight doubles against Utica and paired with James Oliver ’15 to win 8-6 at the first spot against St. Lawrence. Swett also rallied from a set down to beat his St. Lawrence opponent at second flight singles.
Antonoff won both his fourth flight singles matches, raising his season record to 10-5, and teamed with Austin Lokre ’16 to post an 8-1 second flight doubles win against Utica. Lokre was a straight-set winner at fifth flight singles in the Utica victory.
Jack Vissicchio ’17 rounded out Hamilton’s winners against St. Lawrence, posting a three-set victory at sixth flight.
Jonathan Cohen ‘17, Max McKee-Proctor ’17 and Burke Paxton ’17 all won in straight sets in the Utica shutout. Cohen is now 9-5 this season, and McKee-Proctor’s singles win was his sixth.
