James Grebey '12 finished third in the 3,000-meter run for Hamilton College in the 2012 New York State Collegiate Track Conference men's and women's indoor track & field championships at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Feb. 25.

The Continentals placed 10th in the two-day event with 19.33 team points. Rensselaer led the 11-school field with 159.50 points. The Engineers edged runners-up Ithaca College, which finished with 154 points.

Grebey qualified for next weekend's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III championships in New York City with a time of 8:49.26 in the 3,000 meters. He was a member of Hamilton's distance medley relay that missed qualifying for the ECAC meet by .18 seconds on Friday.

Will Tifft '14 ended up seventh in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 13.92 meters (45 feet, 8 inches). Tifft recorded the mark on his first attempt.

Jake London '14 did not finish the heptathlon after a promising start on Friday. London was in second place after four events on the first day. But on Saturday, he was 15th in the 60-meter hurdles, didn't post a height in the pole vault and was a scratch for the 1,000-meter run.

The ECAC Division III championships start Friday, March 2.
