Ernest Williams, the William R. Kenan Professor of Biology Emeritus, recently presented a lecture about “The Butterflies of Monhegan.” His talk, sponsored by Monhegan Associates, Inc., was part of the organization’s Ecology Lecture Series.
Williams discussed patterns in the geographic distribution of butterflies, showed some of the more than 50 species that have been sighted on the island, and described how Monhegan’s butterfly fauna is changing over time.
Monhegan Associates, Inc., is a private nonprofit land trust dedicated to preserving more than 350 acres of undeveloped land on Monhegan Island, off the coast of Maine.
