Olympian Gil Stovall will visit the Hamilton College Competitive Swim Camp during the camp's three sessions in July.
Gil Stovall competed for the United States at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Stovall qualified for one of the two semifinals with a time of 1:55.42 in one of the heats of the 200-meter butterfly. He finished fifth in the semifinals with a time of 1:55.36 and barely missed qualifying for the finals.
Stovall made the team with a career-best time of 1:53.86 as he finished second in the 200 fly at the U.S. Olympic Time Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. At that time, he was the second-fastest swimmer ever in the event -- behind Michael Phelps.
Stovall swam competitively for the University of Georgia (2004 to 2008) and the Athens Bulldog Swim Club. He broke a 17-year-old NCAA record and won a national title for Georgia in the 200-yard fly with a time of 1:41.33 at the 2008 NCAA Division I men's swimming and diving championships.
Stovall is scheduled to appear at the Hamilton camp during the week of July 11-15, July 18-22 and July 25-29.
