Murtaugh’s Sculptures in Manhattan Exhibition


"Paddle and Pinch: Lichen, Bling, and Lizard", 2017, 21” x 19” x 10”, underglazed and glazed ceramic

Three ceramic sculptures by Associate Professor of Art Rebecca Murtaugh are included in a group exhibition titled Bound By Matter at the Lichtundfire Gallery on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

The show runs from Sept. 30th through Nov. 5th.  A free public reception will take place on Sunday, Oct. 1, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the gallery located at 175 Rivington Street.

The exhibition includes abstract paintings, works on paper, and sculptures by eight artists, including Greg Brown, Matthew Neil Gehring, Augustus Goertz, Alan Neider, Christopher Stout, Jeffrey Wallace, and Ted Thirlby.

This group exhibition also marks the milestone of Lichtundfire’s second anniversary as an open-ended center for contemporary art, culture, and political dialogue.
