Marianne Janack

After serving for three years as the vice president of the Richard Rorty Society, Marianne Janack will become the society's president in January, 2020, succeeding Eduardo Mendieta of Penn State University.  Janack is the John Stewart Kennedy Professor of Philosophy and director of the Levitt Center for Public Affairs.

The international symposium, “Philosophy as a Transitional Genre: on Richard Rorty’s Intellectual Bequest,” where the society was founded and officially launched, was held in May 2014 at Stony Brook University (New York). The inaugural conference was held at Hamilton College in September 2016.

The $400 million campaign marked the most ambitious fundraising initiative in the College's history.
