A lecture by Paula Rothenberg, that was to have taken place on September 11, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 4. Rothenberg, director of the New Jersey Project on Inclusive Scholarship, Curriculum, and Teaching, will give a lecture titled "Beyond Tacos and Egg Rolls: Inclusive Curricular Perspectives and Critical Thinking," on Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. in Dwight Lounge, Bristol Campus Center. It is free and open to the public.

Rothenberg will be on campus as part of Hamilton's Hewlett Pluralism and Unity grant for curricular development around issues of diversity. She is professor of philosophy and women's studies at The William Paterson University of New Jersey where she has taught since 1969. Rothenberg says, "Understood properly, multiculturalism is a solution to the problems and deficiencies of the traditional curriculum. This talk will argue for the importance of continuing to rethink curricular perspectives in the interests of creating a more inclusive, and hence more adequate, curriculum, scholarship and pedagogy."

Rothenberg is the author of Invisible Privilege: A Memoir about Race, Class and Gender; her text, Race, Class and Gender in the United States is now in its fifth edition. Her most recent book is White Privilege: Essential Readings about the Other Side of Racism (2001).   Funding for this event has been provided by the Hewlett Grant.  For more information, call the Kirkland Project at 859-4288 or email kirkproj@hamilton.edu.
