Assistant Professor of Music Jace Saplan presented a paper titled “Konduktor na Bakla: Queer Filipino Choral Conductors and the Performance of Gender, Sexuality, and Race” at the First International Conference on Filipino Multidisciplinary Studies. The meeting took place at the University of Hawai’i in November.

Also in November, Saplan served as a panelist at the National Collegiate Choral Organization Conference at Louisiana State University. The panel on “Considering Gender” focused on ways choral programs can make the experience a better one for members who do not fit gender-normative assumptions that are based on singing voice.

The $400 million campaign marked the most ambitious fundraising initiative in the College's history.
