What better way to learn about different science disciplines than seeing them demonstrated? That’s what Hamilton faculty did as they recently hosted the second annual Lab Crawl in the Taylor Science Center.
Eighteen science professors opened their labs to the Hamilton community to provide a closer look at their research and facilities. Attendees were encouraged to pick up a passport and map in the atrium then embark on a tour of the center. Students joined in describing student-faculty projects and demonstrating what they’ve learned.
Chemistry Department Chair and Lab Crawl organizer Karen Brewer, who demonstrated how to make liquid nitrogen ice cream with lab director Shawna O’Neil, said the open house format provides a fun and welcoming way for curious students and the community to learn about senior projects and ongoing research opportunities throughout the science disciplines.
Science faculty plan to follow up with interested students to further describe opportunities for applying for summer research work.
