In anticipation of another large public turnout for its Sacerdote Great Names at Hamilton Series, Hamilton College officials have announced special parking and shuttle bus plans for the lecture by Lady Margaret Thatcher on Thursday, Dec. 9.

Lady Thatcher, Great Britain's first female Prime Minister, will speak at 7 p.m. in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The college will provide shuttle bus service from Hamilton's North parking lot, parking lots at the Skenandoa Golf Club on Norton Avenue and Clinton Central (Elm Street). Shuttle service will begin at 5 p.m. and is free. Security officers will be stationed at key intersections and on campus to direct visitors.

Lady Thatcher was appointed Great Britain's Prime Minister, First Lord of the Treasury and Minister for the Civil Service on May 4, 1979. When the Conservative Party subsequently won the general elections in 1983 and 1987, Lady Thatcher became the first British Prime Minister this century to successfully contest three consecutive elections. She resigned in November, 1990 and the following month her Majesty the Queen awarded her the Order of Merit.

Lady Thatcher is the author of several books, including The Downing Street Years (1993), The Path to Power (1995) and Margaret Thatcher -- The Collected Speeches (1998).

Lady Thatcher will be the sixth person to appear as part of Hamilton's Sacerdote Great Names Series. Her address will be interpreted for the deaf and hearing impaired. Those needing special parking and seating arrangements because of physical handicaps are asked to call 859-4412. Photography, tape recording and videotaping during the event will not be allowed.
