Susan Jarosi

Associate Professor of Art History Susan Jarosi recently presented at the Christie’s Education Symposium 2019. The theme of the meeting was “Women Art Dealers: 1940-1990.”

Jarosi discussed “Prima Galleristas: Mapping Female Dealers in Mid-Twentieth-Century Manhattan” in a session titled “The Global Network of Women Art Dealers.”

The symposium focused on the role of women art dealers who promoted art between different countries and continents from the 1940s through the 1980s and developed an international market ahead of the current global model.

According to its website, Christie’s Education is the only “academic institution wholly owned by an auction house.” Its programs “provide focused and intensive training for students looking for a career in the art world.”

Help us provide an accessible education, offer innovative resources and programs, and foster intellectual exploration.
