Associate Professor of Philosophy Russell Marcus recently led a workshop as part of the American Association of Philosophy Teachers (AAPT) Summer Series. The series replaces the AAPT annual conference this year and features four one-day events spread out through June and July.
In his workshop on asking better questions in class for the session on “What We Teach,” Marcus provided participants with a tool for improving conversation in classes by helping both teachers and students think more carefully about the kinds of questions they ask.
“One neat thing about this presentation,” Marcus said, “was the Jamboard that participants produced together about why we instructors ask questions in class.”
Marcus will also organize a plenary panel for the final Summer Series event in late July.
