Three women’s lacrosse players earn academic honors

The Hamilton College women’s lacrosse team placed three student-athletes on the 2012 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll on August 22.

The trio of Julia Beaty ’13 (Cambridge, Mass./Buckingham Browne & Nichols School), Rachel Friedman ’13 (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde HS) and Lauren Sokol ’12 (Colts Neck, N.J./Peddie School) were honored by the IWLCA for their success in the classroom. All three were 2012 NESCAC spring all-academic selections.

Friedman was selected to the Division III Empire Region all-region team by the IWLCA in May. She led the team with 38 goals and ranks fourth on the program’s all-time list with 149 career goals.

Sokol was a two-time All-American on defense before she graduated in May. She led the Continentals with 32 ground balls and was second with 45 draw controls. Sokol represented Hamilton in the 2012 IWLCA Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game in June.
