MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Both the Hamilton College men's and women's cross country teams finished in 11th place at the 11-team New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships held on the Middlebury College campus on Nov. 1.

The Middlebury College women captured their fifth NESCAC title in the last six years while the Tufts University men won their first-ever NESCAC championship. Amherst College's Shauneen Garrahan won the women's individual title with a time of 18 minutes, 14 seconds on the 5-kilometer course. Neal Holtschulte of Williams College won the 8-kilometer men's race in 26:18.

Luke Thornblade '07 (Orwell, VT/Fair Haven) led Hamilton by finishing in 38th place out of 77 runners with a time of 28:10. Matt Drescher '05 (Utica, NY/Proctor) was next in 29:06 and Andrew Downey '06 (Lowell, MA/Lowell) also broke the 30-minute barrier with a time of 29:17.

Margo Rockwell '05 (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) topped the Continental women runners with a time of 21:08. Rockwell was followed closely by Katie Riposta '06 (Chester, NJ/West Morris Mendham) in 21:35 and Keira Moore '06 (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) 21:47.

Hamilton will travel to Troy, N.Y., to run in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Championships hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Nov. 8.
