Two Hamilton College pole vaulters competed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III outdoor track and field championships at Springfield College's Blake Track on May 14.

James Russell '09 and Rebecca Yaguda '09 were attempting to improve their previous best performances this year and qualify for the NCAA Division III championships, which will be held next weekend at Marietta College in Ohio.

Russell tied for ninth place with a height of 4.52 meters (14-feet-10). He cleared a school-record 4.74 meters on April 25 as he captured first place at the New England Small College Athletic Conference championships for the fourth straight year. That mark met a provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA meet and was tied for 15th place in Division III this year before today.

Yaguda tied for 12th place as she cleared 3.15 meters (10-feet-4). She recorded a season-best mark of 10-feet-8 at the Roberts Wesleyan College Raider Open on May 7 to qualify for this ECAC meet. She holds the Hamilton women's indoor record at 3.25 meters (10-feet-8).
