The Hamilton College track & field teams began two days of competition at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Indoor Championships on Friday at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Results

On the men’s side, the Continentals are in ninth place in the 11-team meet with six points. Dylan Berardelli ’16 placed fifth in the 35-pound weight throw with a mark of 15.62 meters. Berardelli set a school record two weeks ago with a throw of 15.67 meters.

The Continentals also scored points in the distance medley relay as the quartet of Peter DeWeirdt ’18, Nate Somes ‘16, Jon Stanhope ’18 and Adam Pfander ’16 finished seventh with a time of 10:39.96.

Joe Jensen ’15 advanced to Saturday’s finals in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes, turning in Friday’s top preliminary time in both races. He ran the 200 in a meet-record time of 22.13 seconds and posted a time of 49.30 seconds in the 400 trials.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Christian Belardi ’18 qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Indoor Championships and won his preliminary heat in 8.59 seconds to move on to Saturday's final. The school record is 8.58 seconds.

On the women’s side, Hamilton stands in 10th place after picking up seven team points between two events on Friday.

The distance medley relay of Emily Banzer ‘15, Samantha Buttrick ‘17, Krystina Choinski ’15 and Hanna Jerome ’18 placed fifth in a time of 12:38.90 to qualify for the ECAC Championships.

Lindsay Heyer ’17 finished sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 18:29.65. Heyer's time qualified her for the ECAC Championships in the event.

The championships continue on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. at RIT's Gordon Field House and Activities Center.
