Erol Balkan, the Leonard C. Ferguson Professor of Economics, recently presented a talk titled “Displaced and Dispossessed: Photographs from the Border” at Guilford College.
He discussed his recent book, Refugees on the Move: Crisis and Response in Turkey and Europe, and his work in refugee camps in Turkey, as well as his photography and artwork.
The event was hosted by Guilford’s Center for Principled Problem Solving and Excellence in Teaching, and Every Campus a Refuge (ECAR).
Several Hamilton students recently partnered with Guilford’s ECAR program during a spring break service trip in which they worked on setting up a new house, tutoring, and visiting the sites of resources and programs in the Greensboro, N.C., area to support the transition of refugee families.
