Two women's lacrosse players honored by league
Hamilton College women's lacrosse players Meg Pengue '12 (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde HS) and Rachel Friedman '13 (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde HS) were honored by the Liberty League on April 12 when the league selected its weekly award winners.
Pengue was named a co-defensive performer of the week and Friedman picked up co-rookie of the week honors as Hamilton won both its league games last week. The nationally ranked No. 3 Continentals are 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the league. Hamilton hosts Ithaca College on Wednesday, April 14, at 4 p.m.
Pengue picked up five ground balls in easy wins against St. Lawrence University and Clarkson University. She helped lead a defense that blanked Clarkson 17-0 on Saturday for the Continentals' first shutout since 1996. Hamilton is tied for the league lead with a 7.20 goals against average.
Friedman posted two goals, two assists, four ground balls, five draw controls and four caused turnovers last week. This is her second rookie of the week honor. She has scored 17 goals and is tied for the team lead with 19 draw controls.
