A performer in Vision of Sound.

The Hamilton College Department of Music, along with The Society for New Music presents Vision of Sound, a program of live new music and dance, on Saturday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center.

Now in its 12th year, Vision of Sound is committed to promoting the work of living composers and choreographers from across upstate New York. Composers and choreographers this season are from Utica, New Hartford, Ithaca, Geneva, Canandaigua, Rochester and more. All six of the choreographed works are premieres, and three of the pieces of music are world premieres.

The composers for this project are Peter Allen, Diane Jones, Sally Lamb McCune, Mark Olivieri, Octavio Vazquez, and Michael “Doc” Woods. The choreographers working with the composers are Paige Cummings, Christina D’Amico, Lynea D’Aprix, Zachary Frazee, Molly Naef, and  Caitlyn Schrader.

Musicians for this program include Hamilton faculty members pianist Sar Shalom Strong and violinist Peter Rovit.
