
Wesleyan University's Kim Farris hammered 16 kills and three service aces and the Cardinals defeated the Hamilton College Continentals in four sets in a NESCAC match at Wesleyan's Silloway Gym on Oct. 5.

The Cardinals (6-9 overall, 2-3 NESCAC) prevailed by scores of 26-24, 18-25, 25-16 and 25-19, and upped their win streak to four matches. Kate Centofanti chipped in 12 kills and 15 digs.
Erin Casey ’15 finished with a team-best 11 kills for Hamilton (3-12, 0-4). Emma Lonadier ’15 and Jamie Granskie ’16 added eight apiece.
Sarah Pfund ’14 led the Continentals with 34 assists. Ivanka Temnycky ’17 had a season-best six aces and Jessica Weston ’17 added four as Hamilton recorded a season-high 14. Anna Brown ’15 recorded a team-leading 17 digs and Lonadier contributed 10. Weston paced the Continentals with three blocks.
In the first set, Wesleyan built a 19-15 lead before the Continentals took a 22-21 lead behind some strong serving by Temnycky. The Cardinals rallied on a kill by Monica Leslie, followed by blocks at the net by Centofanti and Leslie that clinched the set for Wesleyan.
In the second set, Hamilton used a late 7-2 run that put it out of reach. Wesleyan started strong in the third set strong and led 10-6 before Hamilton used a 7-1 run and took a 13-11 lead. Brittany Lo took control for the Cardinals at that point. Lo ripped off eight straight points on her serve during a 9-0 run that gave Wesleyan a 20-13 lead.
Hamilton took a 6-2 lead early in the fourth set but Wesleyan eventually tied the score at 12-12, and took the lead on a Centofanti kill that was set up by Sara Warnock. The score was tied at 15-15 when Lo won three straight points on her serve and gave Wesleyan the lead for good.
Hamilton hosts nationally ranked Williams College for another NESCAC match on Friday, Oct. 11.
