Kristen Kush scored a game-high 21 points to lead William Smith College to a 74-52 win against Hamilton College in the Liberty League opener for both teams at William Smith's Bristol Gym on Jan. 10.

Mollie Danahy made three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points for the winners. Danahy was credited with seven of the Herons' 22 steals. Sydni Salvatore chipped in 15 points and six assists.

Madie Harlem '13 paced Hamilton with 12 points, five assists and five steals. Claire Hunsinger '13 added 12 points, a game-high nine rebounds and two blocked shots.

William Smith (6-6 overall, 1-0 Liberty) scored the first nine points and led the entire game. The Herons enjoyed a 47-26 advantage at the half. The Continentals didn't get closer than 16 points in the second half.

Hamilton (5-3, 0-1) held a 36-29 advantage in rebounds, but committed 32 turnovers to just 14 by William Smith. The Herons were 8 of 18 from 3-point range while the Continentals made 1 of 8.

Hamilton, which has lost three straight since opening the season with five wins in a row, tries to get back on the winning track with another league game against Union College at home on Friday, Jan. 14.
