Hamilton assistant women's basketball coach Caitlin Gillard as a player at Colgate University.

Caitlin Gillard, who was a three-time captain at Colgate University, has been selected the top assistant women's basketball coach in 2009-10 by Hamilton College head coach Sean Mackin.

Gillard was a four-year letter winner and was twice named the team's most valuable player. She finished her career with 674 points, 407 rebounds and 81 blocked shots. During her junior season, she averaged 9.8 points and 5.8 rebounds to go with 39 blocks and 29 steals.

Gillard was voted to the academic all-district university division second team for women's basketball by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in 2007 and 2008. She earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll all four years.

Gillard received the Dean's Award for academic excellence all eight semesters at Colgate. She graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in neuroscience. She was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 2005 to 2008.

Gillard, who hails from Vestal, N.Y., served as an intern at Duke University's Center for Cognitive Neuroscience from June 2008 through Jan. 2009.
