
Hamilton College placed sixth out of 38 boats in the collegiate fours race at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Cambridge, Mass., on Oct. 20.
Temperatures were in the 70s with sunny skies and mild winds at 5 to 15 mph. The races were approximately 3 miles long and into a moderate current.
Hamilton completed the race in 19 minutes, 39.63 seconds. Fellow NESCAC member Bowdoin College won the event in a time of 19:14.11. Grand Valley State University took second with a time of 19:19.60 and Division I Clemson University finished third at 19:21.47.
Hamilton was one of seven NESCAC schools with an entry in the race. The others and their place-finishes were: Trinity College (fourth), Wesleyan University (eighth), Amherst College (ninth), Connecticut College (13th) and Middlebury College (34th).
Kelsey Burke '13 was coxswain for the collegiate fours. The rest of the boat included Becca Straw '15 at stroke, Erin Gerrity '15 in the bow seat, Helen Higgins '13 in the 3-seat and Caroline Walton '15 in the 2-seat.
Hamilton concludes its fall schedule at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia on Saturday, Oct. 27.
