Hamilton College's "A" entry in the Frosh/Novice 8 finished ninth at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia on Oct. 25.

The temperature was in the low 60s with a gentle breeze and occasional sprinkles early in the day. The weather deteriorated to pouring rain and a strong headwind by the time the women's Open Club 8 started.

Hamilton's time in the Frosh/Novice 8 was 17:20.91 on the 4,000-meter course. Princeton University ended up two places behind Hamilton with a time of 17:33.04. Hamilton's "B" entry finished 22nd in 19:05.07. The Shamokin Dam Rowing Association (Bucknell University) captured first place out of 36 entries with a time of 16:26.33 and Fordham University was second in 16:28.22.

In the Open Club 8, Hamilton finished 13th out of 28 entries with a time of 18:38.64. The U.S. Naval Academy took first place and was more than 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the field with a time of 16:38.12. Navy's "B" entry was one place behind Hamilton in 18:48.35.

Sophie Breene '12 was the coxswain for the Novice 8 "A", Tory Harrison '11 was stroke and Annika Treyball '12 was in the bow seat. The rest of the rowers (seats seven through two in descending order) included: Cara Vennari '12, McKayla Dunfey '12, Katie Peterson '12, Liza Ruemelin '12, Virginia Slattery '12 and Izzy Cannell '11.

Clair Cassiello '11 was the coxswain for the Club 8, Sarah Weatherall '12 was stroke and Eloise Walter '11 was in the bow seat. The rest of the rowers (seats seven through two in descending order) included: Holly Bailey '12, Pam Lewis '11, Eban Lewis '11, Erika Desmond '12, Spencer Gulbronson '12 and Christine Raia '10.

Laura Boynton '12 was the coxswain for the Novice 8 "B", Sarah Kelley '12 was stroke and Manique Talaia-Murray '12 was in the bow seat. The rest of the rowers (seats seven through two in descending order) included: Alice Dannenberg '11, Kristin Forgrave '12, Kathryn Steck '12, Catherine Prescott '12, Rebecca Pomerantz '12 and Kayla Brenden '12.
