Women's hockey shut out at Amherst
Amherst College's Brenna Sullivan scored two goals and the Jeffs defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 2-0 in a NESCAC game at Amherst's Orr Rink on Nov. 15.
The Jeffs' Yuna Evans stopped all 14 shots she faced. This game was the season opener for both teams.
Sam Walther '18 made 25 saves, including 14 in the third period, in her first game for Hamilton. Amherst enjoyed a 27-14 shot advantage.
Sullivan's first goal came 9:28 into the first period. Erin Martin and Emily Flom were credited with the assists. Only three penalties were called the entire game and all three were assessed in the first period. The Continentals were 0-for-2 on the power play.
The Jeffs grabbed a 2-0 lead on Sullivan's second goal 4:24 into the second period. Caroline Bomstein had the assist. Hamilton pulled Walther for the extra skater in the final minute of the third period but still couldn't get the puck past Evans.
The teams play each other again -- this time at Hamilton's Russell Sage Rink -- on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m.
