Hamilton College is ranked fourth in the 2010 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Top 20 preseason poll, which was released on Feb. 9.

Hamilton -- the 2008 NCAA Division III champions and 2009 national tournament semifinalists -- finished last year with a record of 16-3, including 7-1 in the Liberty League. The Continentals have won the last three Liberty League tournaments.

Defending NCAA champion Franklin & Marshall College is the preseason No. 1, followed by 2009 runner-up Salisbury University and national semifinalist Gettysburg College. The College of New Jersey rounds out the top five.

Hamilton will be led by 2009 third team All-American midfielder Liz Rave '10, who scored a team-high 49 goals last year. All-region attack Anne Graveley '11 tallied 32 goals in 2009. Kate Fowler '10 returns to start in goal for the third straight year. Fowler had a 7.87 goals against average and .484 save percentage last season.

Hamilton's first game of 2010 is at SUNY Oneonta on March 14. The first home game is against league foe St. Lawrence University on April 9. The only home game against a ranked opponent is on May 1, when league rival Union College (No. 9) visits Clinton. Hamilton will play its home games at Steuben Field on the site's new artificial grass surface. Steuben Field has been the football team's home for more than 100 years.
