Hamilton College's Sophie Breene '12 (South Orange, N.J./Newark Academy) and Dominique Paiement '12 (Mount Royal, Quebec/Kent School [Conn.]) have been selected 2012 national scholar-athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA).

Breene was coxswain for Hamilton's second varsity eight that competed at the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference/National Invitational Collegiate Regatta on May 11. The second varsity eight finished fourth in the petite final.

Paiement rowed at the stroke position and in the six-seat for the varsity eight this spring. Hamilton finished second in the varsity eight petite final at the ECAC championships.

Hamilton ended its season ranked 10th in the USRowing/CRCA Division III Top 15 poll, and was third in the NCAA New York Region poll. The varsity eight finished with a No. 3 ranking in the New York Region.

Student-athletes that make the list need a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better. The student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic eligibility and must have rowed in the institution's varsity boat for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races. The program's head coach must be a member in good standing with the CRCA. Eric Summers just completed his eighth year as Hamilton's head coach.
