Pam Monnier stopped all five shots she faced to lead SUNY Cortland to a 2-0 win against Hamilton College in a non-conference game at Cortland's Jets Field on Sept. 14.

Liza Gergenti '14 started in goal for Hamilton and made three saves in the first half. Melanie Miller '15 relieved Gergenti at the start of the second half and recorded two saves. Both keepers allowed one goal.

In the 13th minute, Gergenti kept the contest scoreless when she made a diving save at the left post on a penalty kick attempt after a Cortland player was dragged down in the box. The Red Dragons seized a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute. After the initial shot was blocked, the ball bounced out for a one-timer inside the left post.

Hamilton's best opportunity to tie the score came in the 55th minute, but a long, low shot by Emi Birch '14 from the right side just slid past the left post and over the end line.

Cortland (3-2-0 overall) added an insurance goal in the 80th minute. A pass went from the left side to near the top of the box. A Red Dragon player split two defenders and beat Miller with a shot from eight yards out into the left side of the goal. Cortland nearly scored again in the 88th minute, but Miller charged off her line to stuff a shot by a player all alone in front.

The Continentals (1-2-0) host Connecticut College for a NESCAC game on Saturday, Sept. 17.
