The Hamilton College women’s soccer team rallied for a 3-1 non-conference win against SUNY Cortland at Cortland's Jets Field on Sept. 18. The Continentals improved to 3-1 this season.

Lauren Brady ’14, Becca Rees ’16 and Victoria Freeman ’16 each scored a goal for Hamilton. Brady tied the score with her second career goal late in the first half. She put a one-time shot in the top left corner of the net in the 40th minute.

Rees put Hamilton ahead with her first goal this year (and the third of her career) in the 69th minute. She converted a pass from Kendall Daly ’17 by putting the ball inside the left post for the game-winner.

Freeman -- the team’s leading scorer with three goals -- provided an insurance score with 82 seconds to play. Her long shot bounced off the hands of Cortland goalkeeper Taylor Hudson ’15, then off the crossbar and dropped over the goal line. Rees assisted on the goal.

Liza Gergenti ’14 made three saves in goal for the Continentals. Hamilton held a 16-11 shot advantage, but Cortland took four corner kicks to one for the Continentals.

Matison Williams ’14 gave the Red Dragons (2-3-1 overall) a 1-0 lead just 2:02 into the first half and Samantha Gardner ’14 picked up the assist. Hudson stopped four shots.

The Continentals return to NESCAC competition on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Connecticut College. Cortland hosts No. 18 Rensselaer Saturday.
