The Hamilton College Continentals edged Amherst College 5-4 and finished fifth at the 2014 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Hamilton's Little Squash Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Continentals (11-4 overall) won two of three matches and matched their best finish in the tournament's eight-year history. Hamilton also ended up in fifth place in 2012.

Hamilton, the fourth seed in the 11-team tournament, split a pair of matches on Saturday. The Continentals lost 7-2 to fifth-seeded Middlebury College in the quarterfinals before they bounced back with an 8-1 win over eighth-seeded Wesleyan University in the consolation semifinals.

Hillary Kolodner ’14 capped an undefeated weekend with a 3-2 win at the eighth position and raised her season record to 10-4 with her sixth straight victory. Kolodner is 36-21 in her career. Lindsay Arader ’16 rallied from an 0-2 deficit to win in five games at the fifth position and improve to 9-6.

Hilary Gray ’15 swept her opponent at the first position and Rachel Newman ’16 and Elizabeth Morris ’15 were 3-1 winners at the second and sixth positions, respectively. Newman is a team-best 11-3 this season and Morris is 9-5.

The Continentals travel to St. Lawrence University for a 6 p.m. match on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
