The Hamilton College Continentals split a pair of matches in the 2014 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship at Hamilton’s Little Squash Center on Saturday.
The fourth-seeded Continentals will play in Sunday’s fifth-place match, taking on sixth-seeded Amherst College at 10:30 a.m.
Hamilton (10-4 overall) opened play with a 7-2 loss to fifth-seeded Middlebury College in the afternoon quarterfinals, then topped eighth-seeded Wesleyan University 8-1 in the evening's consolation semifinals.
Hillary Kolodner '14 and Kelsey Bogle '14 were double winners on the day. Kolodner swept her opponents at the eighth position and improved to 9-4 this season. Bogle posted a pair of 3-0 wins at the ninth position. She’s won seven straight matches and is 11-2.
Five other Continentals recorded sweeps in the win over Wesleyan: Hilary Gray '15 (first position), Rachel Newman '16 (second), Lindsay Arader '16 (fifth), Elizabeth Morris '15 (sixth) and Isabelle Weisman '15 (seventh). Newman raised her record to 11-2, matching Bogle for the team’s best mark. Hannah Coffin '14 fought back from a 2-0 deficit for a 3-2 win at the fourth position and improved to 11-3 this season.
With a win over Amherst on Sunday, the Continentals would match the program’s best NESCAC tournament finish. Hamilton placed fifth in 2012 and has finished sixth three times.
