Four Hamilton College women's tennis players competed in the 2011 USTA/ITA Division III Northeast Regional Championship at William Smith College's Tennis Center and Bristol Field House on Sept. 24.

Sara Shaughnessy '14, Mira Khanna '15 and Rachel Friedman '15 were in the singles competition, and Khanna and Carrie Uhlein '15 played in the doubles competition.

"This event brought together the very best players in the region," head coach Rob Barr said. "It was a great opportunity for our young players to gain match experience and become familiar with the standard of play at the top. While we didn't win any matches, we battled hard and had chances in several of the close ones. Overall, it was a great experience, and our team will take away a great deal from this weekend."

The Hamilton women's tennis program has enjoyed some success at this event in recent years. Deborah Barany '11 reached the finals of the singles championship draw in 2007, and advanced to the round of 16 last year. Sarah Coleman won the singles title in 2004, and Lindsey Schantz '03 captured the singles crown in 2002.
