The Hamilton College Continentals opened their spring trip with a 7-2 non-conference win over George Fox University in Orlando, Fla., on Monday afternoon.

The victory snapped a two-match losing streak for the Continentals (5-2 overall). George Fox's record dipped to 6-8 this season.

Claire Keyte ’17 was a double winner for Hamilton, sweeping her fourth flight singles opponent for her first singles win and teaming with Mira Khanna ’15 for an 8-0 win at third flight doubles.

Bella Schoning ’16, Rachel Friedman ’15 and Sara Shaughnessy ’14 all won their sixth singles matches this season. Schoning won by forfeit at second flight, Friedman rallied for a three-set win at No. 5 and Shaughnessy posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the sixth spot.

Winnie Tang ’17 rounded out Hamilton’s singles winners, dropping just one game at third flight. The first flight doubles team of Liz Detwiler ’15 and Meg Lee ’14 won 8-4 and improved to 5-3 this season.

The Continentals continue spring break play with non-conference matches against Calvin College (9 a.m.) and Kalamazoo College (4 p.m.) on Tuesday, March 25.
