Hamilton College opened its spring season with an easy 9-0 win over LeTourneau University in Orlando, Fla., on March 15.
Deb Barany ‘11 won 6-2, 6-0 at first flight singles. Laura Brantley ‘10 won a close match at second flight by scores of 6-1, 6-7, and then 10-4 in the champions tie-breaker. At third flight, Vrinda Khanna ‘13 defeated her opponent in straight sets and at fourth flight, Amelia Mattern ‘12 earned a 6-4, 6-1 win. Alex Arenson ‘13 recorded a win at fifth flight, 6-1, 6-0, and Melissa Mann ‘13 won at sixth flight (6-0, 6-1).
The Continentals (2-2 overall) defeated their opponents from Texas in all three doubles flights. At first flight, Brantley and Khanna teamed up to win 8-3. At second flight, Mann and Arenson won 8-1, and the team of Barany and Mattern earned an 8-3 win at third flight.
Hamilton will play again on Tuesday, March 16, against Connecticut College.
