Hamilton College cruised to a 9-0 non-conference win to open its season against visiting Union College at Gray Tennis Courts on Sept. 12.
Hamilton (1-0 overall) travels to Skidmore College on Saturday, Sept. 19, to play at 4 p.m. Union was playing its season opener as well.
Deb Barany ’11 (6-3, 6-1) and Laura Brantley ’10 (6-2, 6-0) won in straight sets at first and second flight singles, respectively. At fifth and sixth flight, both Melissa Mann ’13 (6-3, 6-3) and Alex Arenson ’13 (6-2, 6-1) earned their first collegiate victories.
Vrinda Khanna ’13 won a 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) decision for her first collegiate singles victory. Khanna teamed with Barany to win 8-5 at first flight doubles. Amelia Mattern ’12 was a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 winner at fourth flight singles.
Brantley and Arenson won a close 9-8 (7-5) decision at second flight doubles. Mattern and Mann teamed up at third flight to win 8-4.
