Muriel Schwinn ‘13 earned two victories for Hamilton College as the Continentals hosted their own non-team scoring invitational at Pritchard Track on April 3.
Schwinn finished first in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.90 seconds. She also claimed a victory in the long jump with a mark of 5.21 meters (17 feet, 1¼ inches).
Liz Wahl ’10 took first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.59 seconds. Laurie Horesta ’12 finished second in the javelin throw with a distance of 28.10 meters (92-feet-2). In the high jump, Claire Hunsinger ’13 recorded a height of 1.50 meters (4-feet-11) for a third place finish.
The team of Wahl, Schwinn, Alex Rimmer '13 and Danica Wuelfing '10 took second place in the 400-meter relay with a time of 50.62 seconds. They crossed the finish line just .05 seconds behind the first place team from the University of Rochester.
In the 1,600-meter relay, Glenn Watkins '12, Wahl, Caitlin Hult '12 and Emily Heckman '13 also claimed second place with a time of 4:13.94. They finished just 1.93 seconds behind the winners from Rochester.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Emily Potter ‘12 crossed the finish line in 12:47.21 to take fourth place. Rachel Cackett ’13 was right behind her in fifth with a time of 12:55.80. In the 800-meter run, Watkins took fifth place in 2:27.50. Sarah Boak ’12 claimed fifth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.99.
The Continentals next compete on Saturday, April 10, at the University of Rochester Invitational.
