Hamilton College won five events as the Continentals finished in third place at the five-team Liberty League championships held at Rensselaer's Ned Harkness Track on April 12.
Alexandra Americanos '10 finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.63 seconds. Meredith FitzPatrick '11 captured the top spot in the 1,500-meter run in 5:02.22. FitzPatrick was sixth in the 800-meter run (2:26.32).
The 400-meter relay took first place in 50.59 seconds. Reisa Asimovic '11, Americanos, Liz Wahl '10 and Akilah Bond '09 comprised the winning relay.
Bond won the triple jump with a mark of 11.48 meters and finished second in the long jump with a leap of 4.92 meters. Jess DeMichiel '08 led Hamilton's sweep of the top three places in the pole vault as she cleared 3.10 meters. Amanda Salisburg '08 finished runner-up (2.95m) and Rebecca Yaguda '09 was third (2.80m). DeMichiel ended up fifth in the javelin throw with a distance of 24.69 meters.
Kary Pardy '08 grabbed second place in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.54 meters. Chelsea Halvorson '08 finished third in the javelin (29.02m). Asimovic placed third in the 200-meter dash (27.75 seconds) and fourth in the 100 meters (13.08).
Several other Continentals placed in the top six at the league meet. Brooke Rayder '11 finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles after she recorded a time of 17.39 seconds in the preliminary heats. Rayder was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:13.73).
Kate Hails '10 landed in third place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (13:08.31). Katie Mann '10 finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:05.32) and Hannah Bosland '10 was sixth (1:08.02). Maddy Gunter '11 took sixth place in the 1,500 meters (5:09.31) and Chelsea Stone '10 recorded the same finish in the 5,000-meter run (20:27.02).
Hamilton posted 123 team points and St. Lawrence University won the team title with 232. The Continentals host an invitational on Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m.
